In light of all the recent drama with LJ, I’ve decided to post a little announcement both here and in my user info, stating that this journal is still in use, but most entries now deal with my real life issues and are set to ‘private’. I do still use this journal for all my fandom needs though so if I friend you or your community, I’d really appreciate it if you’d friend me back. I am over 18 and I am still involved with fandom (reading fanfiction and fandom news) even if you can’t tell that from my looking through my journal.

I was bored yesterday, so made two wallpapers, an icon, and two LJ headers for the best Harry/Hermione/Draco story ever What a Witch Needs by Petalsoft. If you haven't read it, you can find it here.

PB's: Harry is portrayed by Tom Welling, Hermione by Gisele, and Draco by Boyd Holbrook.
Pics Found At: TomWelling.com, Naked Lunch with Gisele Bundchen, and BOYD

I hate when reading becomes a chore. I’ve been a bit bored with fan fiction lately. It’s something that happens occasionally and I’m usually ok again within a couple of weeks, but it’s been nearly a month since I’ve really enjoyed a story. I’ve been forcing myself to read the last couple of weeks, hoping I’ll find something to spark my interest again and nothing has. I hate it and it’s all because of HBP or rather, Post-HBP stories.

Every Post-HBP fic I’ve read is either full of angst or deals with the issues HBP presented in completely unrealistic ways. I haven’t found one story where Harry and Draco believably get together and are still together at the end of the story. Harry dies, Draco dies, Harry goes back to Ginny, Draco betrays Harry…it just gets so tiring after a while. Call me crazy, but I still believe Harry and Draco could get together and make a relationship work. Would be it perfect? God, no. They’d have fights, they’d take ‘breaks’, they’d likely even pull the cliché of all relationship cliché’s and cheat on each other, but there would be good times between the bad and I think there would be love, even if they never said it out loud.

Sadly, I’ve only read a handful of stories that were HBP compliant that I actually enjoyed. Two were humorous, two had some angst, but not so much that they weren’t enjoyable even if the future of Harry and Draco’s relationship is uncertain and one is by an author I like, but the plot devise she used to get Harry and Draco together was a bit unusual and she put Snape in the story as Harry’s father figure, so the fic isn’t believable so much as it’s a fun, easy read.

Not having found the perfect Post-HBP story makes it difficult to enjoy anything pre-HBP or even an AU. I don’t know why. I never had this problem before, but now it won’t go away. I need a resolution before I go insane and start reading Pop!Slash again and the Pop!Slash fans can be even scarier than some of the HP ones.

Do you know what I want? What I really, really want? More James/Harry/Sirius stories. There should be more, you know? Many, many, many more. I mean, if you want a hot threesome, that’s it and I find that whether or not James and Sirius are an established pairing, Harry will still get the most attention and come on? Who wants Harry left out? Nobody. It’s all about Harry. He’s a sex god. It’s just in the shy, awkward, oh-so-adorably-innocent kinda way…

And do you know what else I want? More Harry/Sirius stories where James and Lily are alive. Yes, I know, understand, and even accept that James and Lily Potter are dead, but wouldn’t it be interesting to see their reaction to their son fucking their best friend or rather, their best friend fucking their son? I think it would be, but even in the stories where James and Lily are alive, the authors don’t go into detail on how the Potter’s feel about Harry and Sirius’ relationship. Why is that?

See, I think it would be fun to explore James and Lily as parents and how Harry would have turned out differently with their influence. How Harry and Sirius would have gotten together if Sirius were a constant presence in Harry’s life. Why aren’t there more AU stories like that?

Hell, why aren’t there more AU’s where the Potter’s live, period? I mean, there are so many damn stories where Sirius and Remus raise Harry, why can’t people write AU’s where Harry had the chance to live with the parents he actually belonged to? Fucking hell, people, if Snape can be a sexual person, than James and Lily Potter could have freaking lived! They’re Harry’s parents, his real parents, why don’t more people want to give them a chance? I understand we know very little about them, but we know just as little about the various Death Eaters, the Malfoy’s, the Lestrange’s, and we know absolutely nothing about Blaise Zabini besides his name (hell, we didn’t even know if it was a girl or a boy until a while back) and that doesn’t stop anyone from writing stories about them.

I just think more people should give James and Lily a chance. They’ve always seemed intriguing enough to me.

So, I was watching About A Boy for about the millionth time the other day and throughout the whole thing, I just couldn’t get over how perfect Rachel Weisz would playing Bellatrix Lestrange. That’s weird, I’m sure, because whenever I’ve seen any movie with Rachel in it, About A Boy being the most frequently watched, she’s perfectly sane and perfectly beautiful, but I just can’t help thinking that she could be a crazy bitch underneath all that.

I have been finding the oddest bits of fan fiction lately, that’s for sure. The other night, I stumbled across a Harry Potter crossover with none other than one of my favorite boy bands, NSYNC. I wouldn’t have expected it giving the pairing (and the fact that I’m not big on HP crossovers in the first place), but the story was actually very good and it hinted at my NSYNC OTP and my second favorite HP pairing. If anyone wants to check it out, the link is here. It’s a Harry/JC story, but I’m teeling you, you should give it a try. It’s not long, but it’s cute.

If you like it or you happen to be a fan of NSYNC and Harry Potter, I found a couple of other crossovers by chance last night as well (I swear I didn’t go searching. I only happened to be going through my NSYNC slash favorites folder). Three Days by Cristen can be found here (It’s a Remus/JC Chasez story. I haven’t read it yet.) and Boys and Owls by [info]lilysaid can be found here (It’s Harry/Justin Timberlake and it’s not really slash, but it could be!)

Aside from the crossovers, I’ve also discovered the wonder that is Harry Potter RPS. Last week, I was going through the stories I’d saved to my hard drive to read on the occasion that I lost my internet and in my search, I found two Daniel Radcliffe/Tom Felton stories. I’d only saved them in the first place because [info]emmagrant01, who is a magnificent author, had been the one to write them. If you haven’t read her stuff, you should really head over to her journal, like, now! Anyway, after reading them, I was left wanting more, so I went in search of RPS today, only in my quest for Dan/Tom, I was sidetracked by Daniel Radcliffe/Gary Oldman fics and my God…I feel guilty for reading them, but damn if I don’t want some more.

And, yes, I now do believe I am going to hell.

Did the Harry/Sirius ship suddenly die and nobody thought to write up an obituary? I’m mean, really, I know it was never very alive to begin with, but at least there were new decent length stories on Sirry_Slash about once a week. Ever since the New Year’s started, it’s as if every shipper has fallen off the planet or something. I check Sirry_Slash every single day for an update and there’s been maybe three since 2005 began.

This makes me very sad.

Harry/Sirius has been my OTP every since I got into the fandom this past August, I think I’ve read every single Harry/Sirius story out there in that time, and I’m dying for something new. Won’t someone write something? Please, pretty, pretty, please? I’d do it myself, only I suck at writing, and anyway, it wouldn’t be something I could enjoy because, well, I’d have written it myself. But maybe, if one of the better and actually well known Harry/Sirius authors wrote something new, people would jump back on board and the Sirry ship would sail just a little bit longer.

It’s just a thought…

This is the fist time I’m using an LJ cut and I hope it works because what some might think is a rant, but is really just my whining, lays behind it.

So, now that I’ve finished my header and customizing my journal, it’s time I made an entry, me thinks. Well, actually, I don’t think. I’d probably put it off longer if it weren’t for the fact that I’m so fucking exhausted I can’t even concentrate enough to read. Damn fan fiction. It’s just I read an awesome Harry/Draco story last night. It was one of the few novel lengths I’ve been able to finish since I started shipping them about a month ago. It even made me cry. Not that my crying is a rare occuarence or anything, but I make a point of only shedding tears for the best kind of stories. If you haven’t read it, you should definitely check out [info]marksykins Oscillate Wildly. You can read the NC-17 version at Marks’ site, or the R version at Schnoogle. Trust me when I say you won’t regret it.
